Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM built into your phone.

Instead of inserting or swapping a physical SIM card, you install your TRUE eSIM digitally and use it to connect to mobile data while travelling.

No SIM swapping. No searching for a SIM shop when you land.

How does a eSIM work?

It's simple.

Choose a TRUE Global Data plan for your destination, install your eSIM before you travel, then switch it on when you arrive.

Once activated at your destination, your device connects to a supported local network and you can start using your travel data.

Choose. Install. Go.

Is my phone compatible with eSIM?

Your device must:

  • Support eSIM technology
  • Be network/carrier unlocked
  • Support the network requirements of your chosen plan

We recommend checking your device before purchasing.

Does my phone need to be unlocked?

Yes.

A carrier-locked phone may prevent another provider's eSIM from being installed or used.

If you're unsure whether your phone is locked, check with your current mobile provider before purchasing our eSIM.

Do I need a physical SIM card to use TRUE?

No.

TRUE eSIMs are completely digital. There's nothing to collect, insert or replace.

Your existing physical SIM can remain in your phone if your device supports Dual SIM.
